Navantia’s digital ship will incorporate an onboard digital twin, consisting of a digital model and functional models of the main equipment and systems. This approach allows for the reproduction of real operational scenarios and the simulation of hypothetical situations to optimize responses and strategies. Diagnostic models will contribute to predictive analysis by monitoring health, performance, and readiness, aiming to reduce or prevent downtime and maximize operational availability.

Virtual representation is achieved through digital models and configuration control as part of the Hardware Information Manual and crew training. This is made possible by Digital Engineering and the generation of detailed models during the acquisition phase. The representation goes even further, enabling a comprehensive, real-time view of the ship’s status and operation. This facilitates more efficient management and more informed, faster decision-making—essential in complex and dynamic operational environments. The ability to simulate different operational scenarios also significantly enhances crew training by providing a safe and controlled environment without the risks associated with real-life training. Relying on the ship’s digital twin, with its advanced engineering and detailed models, allows for proactive management and continuous operational optimization. Strengthening responsiveness and adaptability, this technology enables precise scenario simulation, improving preparedness and safety in naval operations.
